Duo Solo

Fighting games have always been known for their competitive scene. Of course they're going to have tournaments!

I've always thought that these video game tournaments were by far the lamest thing ever dreamt up... But to each their own i suppose..

Yeah man, nothing lamer than a million people showing up to enjoy a hobby they share together and make some money doing it!

Lol!! That Noah kid went hard lmao I'm surprised he managed to win that many matches.. Aww poor little kid lol

If you, like myself, were busy on the weekend and missed the fights, here are some of the highlights (sup Latif himself is THE highlight)

Latif VS Tokido
Latif VS Justin Wong
Latif VS Daigo
Latif VS Poongko
Latif VS Fuudo - FINALS!

Whoa, he really struggled with Tokido. Sadly he lost to that solid Feilong

What made this even worse was how anyone who played Noah had to be the bad guy. :sugoi:

some random asian guy comes in and takes the tournament.
One of the top street fighter 4 Grandmasters in Japan "some random asian guy"? LOL  Fuudo was like the 2nd best ryu player in the world next to Daigo.

rednavi -RETIRED

Yeah I know, after TempesT's post I started to check the background of the people at the tournament. I admit that I'm quite a n00b at this, I only know people like Daigo and knew about Poongko like a month ago or so :P.

If I ever wanna go to EVO, besides the whole money I'll need, I'll have to learn more about the fighting game community and terminology in general. Is SRK a good start for that or is there a better place to learn this kind of stuff?

Nanashi_1337

I can't believe I missed Latif fights. I really liked his fights against Tokido and Daigo.

That EVO was good shit. Even the qualifying matches were badass. The elimination of Juicebox made me weep.

One thing that impressed me about Fuudo was his ability to anticipate and read his opponents. Out of all the matches I saw out of him, I never really saw him style on the opponent or do any fancy combos. He pretty much played a straight punish style. And did it effectively.

While PR Rog fought his ass off, Viscant definitely earned his win. And not because he had a Phoenix Team, because he knew how to use it. Hell, Haggar assist was fucking up Rog's team more than Phoenix was.

Also, a Mileena in MK9 Finals?! WHAAAAT?! Too bad it lost to dem Lao mixups.

Luis Alejandro

Yea he played like a desperate fag(the kung LAO player)

SlySuavity

Frankly, I'm happy by the fact no Smoke made it top 8. :P

Verily, I'm also looking forward to a Phoenix-less tournament next year with UMvC3 - and a nerfed X factor no less.

Watch youtube videos of old tournaments to see a lot of the top players from the past going at it in games like CVS2, SF3, SSF4, street fighter alpha, MVC2 ect.... Watch those old tournaments to find out who the top guys were/are. The commentators in most videos know a lot about the players too and they'll constantly give you info about them.

I usually go to SRK to check out tournament results. Most of the time youtube videos are uploaded after the results of tournaments are posted there.

I thought the same thing about the Daigo/Alex Valle match. The guy was punishing almost everything Daigo did in the 2nd match.

Deadpool can also use a teleporter, but it malfunctions after every third use, inflicting some damage on Deadpool while knocking him back. However, Deadpool's teleport puts him in a more advantageous situation compared to other characters with teleport moves, as he can instantly attack after teleporting rather than idling in a vulnerable post-teleport animation for vital milliseconds. The explosion from the teleport malfunction can also knock back and damage opponents (inflicting twice as much damage on the opponent as on Deadpool) if they are nearby, enabling the teleport malfunction to serve as an extra attack if a player is clever enough to exploit it.

In short, he owned himself.
