Okay, now that I've calmed down for real, looking back I was wrong about Gamerbee getting robbed, posted in the heat of things.  Heck I would've said the same thing about Momochi if he lost as Gamer bee was given a free win;  the difference would not be too much as GB worked too hard to get here.

Still, horrendous finish either way.

Also people are now spreading to whatever online retail selling Razer arcade fightsticks to post what happened, while one starring.

I feel it's one of those times where nobody's a winner, especially when Razer never asked for this. It also makes you think... what could've been. What a mental block to take in... it's so pyrrhic. Never seen anything like this.

Zemilia

Tbh, Idk why people are getting so mad over a stick malfunction. Yes, it cost a competitor's win, but does that instantly make the brand/company themselves shit?

Kirishima

It happened at a crucial moment in a tournament. If it happened at any point let's say Top 32 or 64, jokes would've been passed, rocks would've been letted.  But in Grand Finals of all possible things, especially when 200k+ viewers were glued in, can easily get very emotional here.

So pretty much Razer is the closest to heavily vent on.  And I don't blame them.

Titiln

it doesn't make them 100% shit, but one of their sticks breaking during gameplay (on grand finals no less) is a really bad look. a huge part of their target market for these sticks saw it happen live

So, here are my thoughts of the finals.

Ultimax - Awesome, especially seeing Labrys make it that far.  Crazy Ken and Koromaru set-ups against Margaret.

Tekken 7 - Hyped for Dragunov, got surprised at the whiffed Rage arts by Alisa.  If you missed it, check out the last match.  Amazing.

Smash 4 - Vintage Hoo-Hah at 170% to seal the win.  I thought it would've been a Sheik mirror but Diddy brought the hype.  Pool play at Top 32 however was more exciting to win to due diversity  (Japanese DK and NWC John Numbers for starters).

Killer Instinct - I don't know much of KI, so I'll say good matches from the players.

Will post the rest.

Darkflare

Oh wow, need to give props to Capcom. I didn't know they also brought the Timerscams from SFxT into USFIV as well.

Kirishima

Happened in Smash 4, UMvC3, and Ultimax too.

A real timer was even brought out.

For what it's worth, this EVO wasn't without her graces by far; laughter was had, the cheers, along with the cringe and upsets -- everything culminating to this defining event. I'm still laughing over Woshige's moment, which is thankfully on Youtube. This really is a testament to people moving forward together, so my feels are abundant. EVO has the motherfucking heart and soul.

Glad to have been able to share this with you lot, so now's my cue to doze off. Farewell, and here's to another year of grandeur.

Zemilia

I'm still having goosebumps over that SonicFox comeback. No meter, and his opponent has almost full life, but he came back anyway.

Too bad I didn't see the other finals (Sm4sh, Persona, KI, Tekken 7, and maybe Melee), and missed a bit of GGxrd, but I think this year went pretty well.  Had its drawbacks, but damn was it good.

Props to Kiri and Urbane, this thread really wouldn't be the same without the Hype Bros.

All that time making OP and I hardly appeared in the thread, bleh. OP updated with results and every Grand Final.

Zemilia

I'm still wondering where in all of Evo is Maximillian now. His name was called, but never showed up. In fact, he hasn't even appeared during the USFIV finals saying "Oh shit, I forgot something!"... then again, that would ruin the hype.

It's like your pants falling in a Broadway musical.

The real fucked up thing is that if SF5 makes it out before Evo 2016, then we just witnessed the most disappointing send-off for a classic fighting game EVER.

USF4 will be back, not enough overlap from the two games. Course it won't cap off the event anymore so there's that.

My thoughts for the rest of the finals.

Xrd - Woshige.  That is all.  This guy needs to be sponsored.

MKX - Grand Finals caught me off guard when Sonic Fox switched to Erron Black and mangled Kung Lao from Losers.  Also, alongside Killer Instinct, this was the second game for an American to win.  Guess USA's main games are western fighters lol.  Even surprising was hearing MOV competing.  Also laughing at the dead crowd until Top 4.  No love from Tremor.

Melee -  I originally thought this would've been another Apex with familiar faces; doesn't mean that hype is always active.  Plup Samus godlike.  Still, big props to Armada for pulling off the win!  Personally, I'm a little concerned about future Top 8s.  Now, it's predictable to guess who will go on.  Yet, the second game to reach 200k+ viewers, it's not going anywhere.  Still hoping for an HD port, or something.

UMvC3 - I never thought I would see a Marvel Top 8 with fresh challengers.  Just watch the entire set.  Sad that NY's RayRay didn't pull it off (was rooting from him all the way), but compared to his earlier runs when he ran with Ryu on point, amazing how much has changed.  Also, screw you JPN Dante.

USF4 - Anti-climatics aside, Gamerbee pulled off upsets after upsets.  Not really intrigued of Infiltration running with more than 6 characters and stalling off time.  Shout outs to the official EVO watch.  And that's all I can say about this.  Fantastic matches all around.  And screw you ENG Juri.

Overall, this is my second favorite EVO to watch, first being 2011.

Same time next year Urbane?

There are also some side-tournament results if you want to update further.  And thanks for forming this thread.

Thinking about going to EVO next year.....

S.D.

You should, it's an amazing experience, the people made it for me because this year the entire event's production values weren't anywhere near last year's.
2014 had a bigger, super packed and flashier finals hall... This year's hall was so tiny; and then last year we got a neat guidebook, a very well done fan, a shirt and badge... this year? Not only everything was more expensive and the venue smaller, but also we only got a badge, I don't think we even got the coupons Mr.Wizard promised.

Renzo F

I thought every shot on stream of the halls looked packed because, FUCK IT 9000 entries total for all tournaments.
LVH was bigger, yeah, but had a terrible location.
