Ryu,Ken,and Gouki have 4 sprites, Gouken only has 3. So when I animate it seems choppy.

Hmm... not sure how to fix that, is it one where he goes up or down?

Really, Theres 2 things wrong.
1. He is supposed to go up first then down.
2. The 4th Sprite he is missing is the sprite where he goes up and has his feet go up completely.
This is the sprite you missed:

Ah ok. Well that's an easy fix. Here try this one, just finished it, it looks pretty good though when animated:

Put them in this order:

Just added this. This is his middle punch hadouken animation. Now he has a Light Punch, Middle Punch, and Heavy Punch Hadouken :-)

^ updated the animation

Also, another update: Fixed the defensive counter animation. Just wanted to say a few things about this. I know in SF4 Gouken has a high and low defensive counter that can counter even projectiles. But what I was thinking is that maybe he can just have this one for now and maybe treat it like Takuma's in the KOF games or even SNK Chaos Dan's move. Like when Gouken does it, have him hold the block pose for a second, and if hit during this time, it counters anything. For low and standing attacks it is the straight punch counter. But maybe for high attacks, like jumping attacks, it is the left handed dragon punch. It would be really cool if his dragon punch was hidden in his defensive counters.

Finished the 'get up' animation:

UPDATE:

Here are the final start up frames to the Shin Shoryuken. Also, I made some small changes to the stance to make it just a little smoother. It looks pretty decent now. These aren't exactly the same as the ones posted above. My next post will have the jumping middle punch frames in them. Almost done with those too:

Ok, finally finished these! I think he looks okay with the wrist guards and regular colored gi top. It was funny, the other day, my girlfriend saw me playing SF4 and she said, "Is that the guy you were making?" Lol so if she could recognize who it was, it must not be too bad because she's not a gamer at all :-)

If I do any more work on this it will probably be this coming up summer. I do want to finish the continue screen animations and I want to add an alternate color. I will post a preview of the alternate color tomorrow, was thinking something simple like a gray gi shirt with a brown belt.  I will post a break down of his moves tomorrow as well, looking forward to seeing this thing finished. I think it will be really awesome. Here are the final frames and an explanation of what is what:

Top Row: His jumping middle punch that he uses in SF4. It takes the same animation as Ryu's middle punch from the Alpha Series.

Middle: The 'get up' animation.

Bottom (left to right): His standing close jab animation, his low defensive counter animations, and the second hit of his Shin Shoryuken.

And here it is, the final, polished version of old school Gouken. I will explain his moves in the next post. All of the updated animations are in here, looking forward to the day when he is finished. It's really nice to see new characters or edits, with this excellent quality of sprites, looks pro to me.
I wish you continue the same line, bringing "Old School New Challengers" to the classic SF2.

Thanks for the hard work.

Thanks a lot Maetero, I really do appreciate it. Glad someone thinks it looks pro :-)

I don't know if I will ever do another character because this one took FOREVER, and the girlfriend is mad at me, but you're welcome. I really want to see this character playable one day. It would be really cool.

A little off topic but Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Sounds were just the original World Warrior Sounds but with a higher pitch. So I can just take Street Fighter 2 World Warrior sounds, Put them in Audacity, make the pitch higher and BAM! They sound like there from SSF2T!
