I'm using windows vista and for some reason my PC un associated my cmd files with windows nt command script. So my cmd files show up as a generic file instead of the file with the two cogs in it. How do you associate the file with the nt command script?

Iced

shift+right mouse button
select Open with
There is then a box that you can check that will say "always open with" and you select what you want to open it with.

I sometimes wonder if .cmd is the best extension for that file seeing as it does share something with the windows shell.

new .cmd standard should be invented. .cnd maybe. Yes, that should work, a google search doesn't pull up any file associations.

In M.U.G.E.N there is no magic button

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

we are past the age where extensions had to be three letters.
have it be dubbed .Cmmd

FTR : http://filext.com/ (it does have a hit on cnd, too)

I honestly can't see why you would want your Mugen .cmd files to be recognized as a Windows command file. If it's just for the icon, you can right click -> open with... And make it always be opened with something like notepad++, and then change the icon (in a folder, look at the top over the address bar, click tools -> folder options -> file types, find CMD, advanced -> change icon and find whatever icon you want, might have to look in system32 if you specifically want the cogs).
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

the only reason I wanted it like that is because thats how it originally was when I first started playing around with mugen years ago. I don't know, I guess i'm just used to it. I know i can just open it with notepad because you can only view the cmd that way anyway but I just like it being associated with nt command script for some reason
