how do you fight against a specific character?

well when ya download a new character, obviously you'd want to fight against them, but I can't figure out how to do that. The only way I can find to choose a character to fight against is training- set ai, but the power bars are always at max and the health regenerates so it's not a real battle.
 ??? what do i do to fight them? i see that other people do somehow, in releases people are always talking about how they beat the guy with who and etc....

preferably BESIDES changing the select.def to only having 2 characters in it. but if that's the only way, guess thats teh only way...

Here's three easy steps for you:

Step 1: Open up your mugen.cfg and make sure your debugkeys are allowed, like this:
"AllowDebugKeys = 1".

Step 2: Go to watch mode and choose the characters to your liking.

Step 3: At the beginning of the fight press ctrl+1. Now you should be able to control the player 1 character.

Make sure to do it as soon as you see the characters appear, especially if custom AI is available. Otherwise you're bound to find yourself having to put up with the scripted AI instead if it's present.
