Quote+ Somewhere in between MGS1 + MGS2 where Snake goes NGO with Otacon, to sabotage shit.I think there may of already been a game detailing this, might of been for mobile phones back then. Never got to play it myself.
it's not confirmedhttp://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/2011/11/21/metal-gear-solid-5-ps3-well-have-to-make-it-says-hideo-kojima/QuoteWhen asked about the sequel to MGS 4 the series’ creator replied “I think we’ll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea”. Once again, though, Kojima is downplaying his involvement. “As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, [it] probably won’t be as much as it was with MGS1 – maybe I can do just one stage! For MGS1 I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on – that level I can’t do again.”
Because of the cover ? It didn't do anything wrong, apparently the editor in chief himself posted on his Twitter about how a lot of people imagined a lot of things from their cover when it really doesn't say it's confirmed, and says to actually read the article they have about it.
assuming the article will have mgs5 details based on the cover alone is dumb, but http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/2011/11/16/historic-issue-65-cover-features-hideo-kojima/Quoteopenly discusses his plans for Metal Gear Solid 5 and Project Ogre for the first time.most people thought it'd be something beyond "yeah i gotta make that at some point lol"
Eh... Technically it's still not wrong, people did assume a lot, even if it's easy to assume from that. But it's not like the cover could have worded it in a vastly different way. I chalk it up more to how everyone considers it the new norm to blow things like that out of proportion from a single line, rather than the opposite, blaming a vague quote for being responsible for that misunderstanding. While it's understandable to think there would be more because of that wording, it's not actually normal that everyone would consider it to be already confirmed, just from that quote. Technically, Kojima does discuss his plans openly - he's been saying a lot more than what he got us used to.Let me rephrase that in much less words :sure, it was easy to misunderstand the cover, but the part where everyone just assumed and took it for granted was not right, it shouldn't be normal that they did that.
Kojima confirms Metal Gear Solid 5"We have not yet finished with Solid Snake," says Kojima.QuoteKojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima has confirmed development on Metal Gear Solid 5 to the twentieth issue (June / July) of the French IG Magazine.“There will be a Metal Gear Solid 5 with the new FOX Engine,” confirmed Kojima (via Google Translate), “but what we’ve shown was not gameplay, or anything like that. It was only a demo that we had developed internally and released because the lighting and interactions with the environment had fooled everyone.”Kojima continued: “About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you “a favor” like in the last Metal Gear Solid. I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it’s better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5.”Kojima also touched upon Metal Gear Rising, reiterating that it is not a Solid Snake title, but rather an offshoot that does something new.“Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance never claimed to be a Metal Gear Solid. This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake. It is a spinoff that tries something different. We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots.”

I guess writing new characters is some sort of a sin now.Or you know, use one of the many characters throughout the series who have not had as much screentime yet.
Lolmechy said, 12 years agoOr you know, use one of the many characters throughout the series who have not had as much screentime yet.Otacon taking down Metal Gears with a rocket launcher and land mines and social engineering on the operator, you heard it here first.
the most compelling other character that could have a game is cool ninja raiden. and he's getting one. the fact is that whenever people see metal gear they expect to play as snake. whenever they see a mario game they expect to play as mario. zelda they play as a link. halo master chief. god of war kratos. they're probably not going to use a new character considering how well received raiden was in mgs2. writing new characters (on franchises in which you've played as the same character for so long) should be saved for spinoffs or entirely different games.
But snake already had his stories and was brought to a fairly conclusive (if really poorly written) end. I dont see why he needs to dragged out of the nursing home for more sneaking when there are many, far more healthy characters who could do it for him.And if you want to go the prequel route, you could focus on characters like The Boss who actually has some pretty grand stories that have not been made into games just yet.I like snake and all, but I do think Kojima could do more with the series.
It's a Metal Gear SOLID game, you HAVE to play as one of the snakes (Even if at least at some point like in MGS2). If you wanna play as Johnny you'll have to wait until MGJ gets released Lolmechy said, 12 years agoAnd if you want to go the prequel route, you could focus on characters like The Boss who actually has some pretty grand stories that have not been made into games just yet.For example, he could do the same with Solid Snake, telling whatever he did in between games.
But would it not be better to have more variety in characters and settings? Also the boss totally deserves her own game.

You're complaining just because at this point. Snake's story is directly linked to all of The Boss' clones so he may even imply that kind of setting, who knows?Valodim said, 12 years agoRednavi said, 12 years agoIt's a Metal Gear SOLID game, you HAVE to play as one of the snakesquality logic right here folks. Is that sarcasm or you're just highlighting something?
