Hi I've had mugen for quite a while on my laptop, I've had both 1.0 and 1.1 beta 1, the last one I was using was 1.1 beta 1. I recently had to get a new harddrive for my computer so I backed up all of my mugen to an external harddrive. Now that my computer is renewed again I tried to copy and paste it back to my newly harddrive'd computer....but 1.0 works fine, 1.1 beta on the otherhand seems to work except for the fact everything is black...nothing but a black screen. I can hear the fight previews and music in the background, it is 100% my old mugen just without being able to see it. What's going on here, was there something I needed to download for 1.1 beta that I did with my old harddrive and forgot to with this one? Does it have to do with my grafics driver?
If it helps, I have a Windows 7 Dell laptop.

In short: mugen 1.0 works fine, mugen 1.1 beta I can't see the video(shows up as all black) but the audio works. It worked on my old harddrive but not my new one (even if I try to play off of my old harddrive [because I turned it into an external harddrive] I still can't see the video).

Thanks if you can help, I have a friend coming over in a week and I promised him a rematch on mugen.

First off all check your mugen.cfg open it with notepad then scroll down until you see the sub heading [Video] and make sure that the render mode in OpenGL( like in the example below) NOT System or DirectX
[Video]
 ;Screen rendering mode.
 ;OpenGL - Experimental OpenGL renderer (recommended)
 ;System - default SDL rendering mode (e.g. windib in Windows)
 ;DirectX - DirectX 5 renderer
 ;System and DirectX modes do not support advanced features
 ;such as RGB sprites and window resizing.
RenderMode = OpenGL
if that doesn't work then It indeed does have something to do with your graphic card simply put your current graphic card can't run OpenGL which mugen 1.1 needs for 32bit images (no indexing) or you just need to upgrade your graphic card if that doesn't then you may need to buy one thats compatible with OpenGL

Thanks dude, it kind of solved my problem...it was already in Opengl, so I switched it to another to check, and with System or Direct X I can indeed see the game....but not the menu selection screen, the lifebars, or the background... pretty much can only see the fights and a messed up character selection screen. So I guess I need opengl for all that to work. I guess my computer (in it's current state) doesn't have opengl(or at least updated). Answers online say I should already have opengl, so I guess an update to my graphics driver is necessary but all the graphics drivers I've tried so far have been telling me my OS doesn't meet the minimum requirements...which is weird because I have a windows 7 32 bit computer and I've been downloading windows 7 32 bit grafics drivers straight from intel's site and the version of the graphics driver is like 8 or something and my computer keeps telling me it's up to date...which would be a flat-out lie because according to intel's site the latest version of the graphics driver is 15...but that version 15 one didn't work anyway. So close to enjoying mugen'y goodness once again. So should I update the driver? Where to download the one I need? Or could I simply just locate it's source on my old(now turned external) harddrive and copy paste it to my new laptop. Sorry for all the text, thanks for your patience.
