need help adding characters

I can't seem to add any characters to Winmugen

i put the character files inside a folder which i named after the bat file, and that i put into the characters directory. I go into Data, then select and i add the file name like this
Gouki, stage/dojo.def
and it doesn't show up in the game. Is there anything im doing wrong?

You should add the folder of your char into your character folder. The name of the character folder should be EXACTLY like the name of the .def file of that char. If there are more than 1 .def it should be the name of the .def that has the "Display name' and 'name' information. In the select.def you add the name of the folder or of that def.

Afaik it should be stages/nameofstage.def  that you add next to the name of your character in select.def like Gouki,stages/NameOfStage.def

This will make it when you fight vs gouki to fight vs him only on that stage. This works only if you play tournament.single player and not 2 players or training.
