I'm trying to do this with my external hard drive, but does anyone have any idea why do I lose half the space in my hard drive after converting?
because fat32 sucks... but really 50% lost sounds like a lot even for that. Do you have a lot of small files? the cluster space might be the culprit.
I know it sucks, I just need FAT32 to make it compatible with my usb stereos. I just had to change the program to format my hard drive in FAT32. The previous one sucked, which was HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, Fat32Formatter did the job.
it's not a fat32 restriction, the usual partition limit there is 2TB. the program you use sucks on a related note, the maximum file size on FAT32 is 4GB, so you won't, for instance, be able to save dvd size images, or hd movies on it.Try outsourcing all your files, formatting using the windows tools for that job (from the Managment Console!), and then moving the files back on there.
That's the first thing I did, which was using the Management Console. FAT32 wasn't an option there, so I had to rely on other programs. I don't really have files that large, so it won't really be much of a problem.I believe PS3 also has the same issue, it only recognizes FAT32 hard drives?Anyhow, where were you when I needed you, problem already solved
