Really? I don't see all the hype about it. Saw a review about the game and its incredibly short and the combat system looks funky. Also has a typical storyline and the game ends before you can exact your revenge.

You have to compare to the games of its time :
- Huge liberty in a large city.
- Motion of the faces, of the lips, with modelisation at a quality rarely (if ever) done before.
- Fighting system is genious for its time, with a sort of simplified Virtua Fighter layout put into an adventure game.
- They created QTE, even including them in Boss fights.
- The game itself has a lot of mini games. Playing Space Harrier on a Saturn in the character's house and send your scores to the internet may seem like a gimmick, but it's great anyway.
- Scenario is quite simple, but very well made, and moreover : it's set in a realistic world where you really feel the immersion.
- Immersions comes also from the time passing from day to night, and also seasons. This was never really done before (I may be wrong though). It's great to play slowly till spring and see the cherry flowers on trees.

But yeah ... the series was never finished ... :S

It's like reading a review about Biohazard 1 on PS1 today, and saying "dunno, looks like the typical survival horror game, with funky controls that don't make sense".
