Special Moves

I have a problem.I want to do special moves for new characters instead of just the regular old hit buttons, but when i read the movelist for a character i have, they say certain keys and the move those keys will do. But,when i'm playing in arcade and i have the power meter on my character full, i hit the keys the movelist said, but it doesn't do any special moves. I checked to make sure my power bar was full and i checked to make sure i had the right keys. Any idea how i can do these moves correctly? ???

Um...practice them? =/
You aren't making it literal, right? LIke when it says QTF + A, you don't actually press all Q, T, and F at the same time and then the A key, right?
