Top Tier and Broken CvS2 Characters

OK, so I've been wondering for a while about why Cammy is not the number 1 or 2 CvS2 character on the tier list, and why Nakoruru isn't either and why they both aren't considered Broken :thinking:

From what I've seen, Cammy doesn't seem to be a very popular character to play with, mind you, I'm basing that exclusively on Tournament Videos that were uploaded on YouTube.

Now the reason why I ask this question is because Cammy is my character of choice in CvS2 and Ken trails far behind her as my second charcater of choice.

Me, I'm no expert on CvS2, but I have created some strategies with Cammy that are extremely effective (... CHEAP).
I use a shrewd startegy with Cammy using constant "Cannon Spike" counters  and seriously that has gotten me the win literally 95% of the time between both humans and CPU (not saying that is the way to go, because the humans I play agaianst may not necessarily be tournament level players, but it is still very interesting).
Many people misjudge just how far that attack strikes and how long she stays in the animation for.

My main strategy (in more detail) is to move p2 into the corner and then jump in while they're getting up, and using either one of her two long ranged basic air kicks (which are suprisingly hard for p2 to counter) and combo from those into a series of crouching punches and kicks and just Cannon Spike in the end and repeat that. OR, I will, knock p2 down and run in while they are getting up, then execute well timed crounching attacks into poke string AND IF I MISS, I just execute the Cannon Spike or Poison arrow and keep going until I successfully connect to p2 and combo into either one of these two specials.

I aslo make some good use of her roll technique, waiting for p2 to attacks and roll canceling into the Cannon Spike and sometimes the poison arrow.

With the poison arrow I try to use it only against taller opponents (except God Rugal), or projectile oriented opponents, i.e. Ryu, and I mean Ryu for both the player and the CPU.  I use it as a counter move when I just get the feeling someone is about to launch a projectile or else when a taller, a bit slower opponent (Sagat in particular) are about to strike (I can also use it against people playing as Kyo, Iori, and Bison pretty effectively).


My strategy in the end is really aggressive (if you play me), but honestly with all of the Cheap crap I use, Cammy does seem pretty broken. Also Nakoruru seems broken as well. All of her moves seem suprisingly long ranged, highly prioritized (if I'm using that word correctly), able to counter the enemy at all times, and are as fast as sh@t making them harder for the opponnt to cope with

I always wondered why these two aren't considered Broken and are not in the highest Tier CvS2.

they dont have alot of priority. cammy is around mid tier she is okay. nakoru doesnt have much to work with she could get poked at easily. some of those cammy strategies can be countered since noone is going to let you put them in a corner.

like cars in reverse ,  ya better back up

With Nakoruru, I'll check back, because I eremeber her being able to break a ton of special moves executed by other chars (then again I could definitely be thinking of CvS1).

With Cammy, suprisingly, I get p2 cornered all the time wth those strategies and I find it more than interesting. I am tempted to credit the running crouch attack thing to the fact that Cammy seems a lot faster than most other CvS2 chars even though the times are supposed to be balanced... I dunno, just seems like Cammy has an advantage.

With the jump in strategy, I am rarely, if ever, countered. I don't know if it is because the positions that Cammy is in during those strikes don't easily allow for contact/counters, or if it is that Cammy holds the Attack that contains the CLSN (yeah I know Mugen, but I guess it can be applied here as well) for longer, or else because her kicking attacks have such long range and the p2 would almost have to be able to attack/counter instantly while getting up to get me out of this advantaged position.

The "Canon Spike" for Cammy though, is suprisingly a whole lot more effective than even teh Shoryuken for Ken, and in CvS2, I use both of those attacks all the time, especially with the fact that as soon as you land there is pretty much no landing delay and you can go directly into another (Lucky Button Mashing :laugh4: ).

well like i said cammy is up there lots of good players play her......nakoru though not so much. just pick cammy in k groove and your good.

Yep, I saw that...
I was wondering why they weren't 1 and 2... They seem pretty broken to me.

BTW, how in the Hell did Todo get into the mid tier ?? He's worse than Dan from what I've seen and played  :S
And how did Rock get into the High Mid tier... Oh wait, that's right he's quick with a hard as heck combos to execute.  :D
I dunno, that list kind of seems arguable, but I guess they base it off of number of wins in tournaments in this case.

In a way. I usually wait for the opponent to attack then either pull it or else BUTTON MASH, and it comes out.
I use a bit more strategy, but yeah, pretty much a spammer  --;

I've heard that from other people too. I never quite understood it (because I can't play with the "Charge" characters for beans), but I've been giving consideration as to why he's such a popular tournament character. I guess he kind of plays like Nakoruru  :-\

For some reason I can agree without actually knowing what goes on.
Vega (claw) should be a Broken character. I'd have to guess, based on his moves, taht balancing him to teh rest of teh cast would be impossible.
Yamazaki's moves just seem to give off the effect of having higher priorities (even though they don't... probably don't, for some reason he gives the effect of having an adantage when you play as him).

Yama is excelent for defensive players as he has a move to counter every other kind of move.
In human play he can be quite the tool for mindgames.

To explain why some of these people are higher tier than Cammy.

A-groove Bison: He has about a million and one ways to start painting the fence, and painting the fence kills. Even without that he can control the field fairly well thanks to how well his attacks move him, I'm not sure but I'd assume a roll cancel to psycho crusher or kneepress would be part of the broken but I haven't seen that used.

A-groove Blanka: Crouching fierce, Roll canceled electricity and roll canceled ball are all pretty godly! Great air to ground, ground to ground and ground to air normals, and good screen covering/moving specials.

A-groove Sakura: Out does the shotos in how her junk moves her around and her A-groove stuff can get pretty overblown IINM

C-groove Sagat: Crouching fierce yet again is made of win, all his old stuff is here. Good tiger spam, good anti air, decent combos, good keep away and close range game etc etc.

There really aren't really that much broken chars in CVS2, unlike MVC2. In CVS2, most chars aren't unbeatable by the start, it's the people who use them that make them broken or cheap. But yes, a handfull of chars spam, which makes them broken.

hint to win on cvs2: take evasive action! and grab when someone blocks too much or do a downward hit when they are crouching (ex: rock, ryu, kyo, ken, etc.)

Player Version: Plays really broken, give least damage, get more damage and can get dizzy
CPU Version: Overpowered, gives more damage, get less damage and get no dizzy

Oddly Eough Kof98 and CVS2 are played in similar fashion. More of a Queer as Folk type of way cause everybody's poking one another all of the time lol! Sorry if i offended anybody but i kinda mad at what capcom had become to this point. Some of the chaaracter that are good elsewhere don't get the priorities they deserve. Lately i've been noticing how much Turttling goes on in many games tournament-wise.

Lastly there are too many upperhand Exploits that really gets on my nerve. I love Fighting game and i can play cvs2 but i just hate the fact that people can exploit things that are unnaturnal to the games flow to gain a upper-hand.
i swear, Stupid muthafokkers exist all over this board!
Nonetheless Dickriders get all of the Attention!
