-Horrible graphics and sound. Example a PS3 game that maybe has PS1 graphics damn there thats outdated.

-linear atmosphere. if it isnt like Castlevania SOTN game play atmosphere it gets boring to me after a couple of hours

-Repetitive game without any substance. just mindless same combo game play which makes it BORING

-No replay Value. Some games need a replay value where you can end the game with all those items and abilities UNLOCKED and can restart a NEW game on any difficulty you want with those same abilities. examples. Ninja gaiden 2, Bayonetta & Dantes Inferno were fun in replay value to me because of that. Again i said SOME not all need that.

-Constant Bug crashes. if every other time i start the game and the game freezes with bugs or i lose saves constantly it totally ruins the experience. I think Morrow wind (er elders scrolls) on XBOX G1 was the worst for that...youd fuck up your entire HD losing saves on everything from that buggy game

-Hard to enjoy. If the game is waaay too hard i get tired of it quick. Dark souls is one of them. I still have the game but ehh i just get bored fast of small weak enemies having the strength and power of a BOSS enemy.....Great looking game but it gets annoying and seem pointless to play most of the time Unlike Skyrim

-horrible level up system like Fallout Vegas. cap is 50 but the perks you are supposed to unlock on the list well exceed what you can reach in level. that was the dumbest shit ever. basically (for example) it was like seeing 1000 guns to choose from locked but you can only reach level 20 to get maybe 10 of them. does that make sense? Fallout 3 was NOTHING like that^^ You would at some point get to see all those perks how you played that game. but in Vegas once you reached 50 that was it.AND on top of that you needed the DLC story JUST to get to 50. you cap at 30 without buying that DLC. So yeah Youd be killing for nothing after 50. no level ups and no extra power in damage etc. that was horrible to me for a "RPG"....

-Overkill of DLC must haves. If DLC is the main back bone to enjoy the entire game then that Ruins it for me. IF the game is already hot without it then thats fine but if the game is half ass done and the DLC "Must buy" is needed to make it feel complete then that totally fucks up any chances for me to even care to buy it or keep it. Great examples of DLC are RYU & AKUMA stories in Asuras Wrath IMO. Very fun. BAD examples of DLC is the MVC3 DLC characters that were ALREADY on the disc locked and should have been there to use in the first place. Im from the days where you had beat the game from normal to hardest or under other conditions to unlock different contents hidden in the game. Some DLC extras are pointless to buy for even 5 bucks to me

-With fighting games when the controls are too crappy to enjoy. too stiff to control.

-Incomplete game. Example: KOF XII

I agree with most of what was brought up (except Dorae's post [fun fact: the katakana in his name literally says "Main Character"]), lessee if I can bring up any more...

- I haven't seen any other game do this, but getting Book of Fables entries in The Wolf Among Us killed the game for me. Basically, the entries give you more backstory on the setting, and you get them by doing certain actions, and they either unlock in normal play or by doing something at the right place at the right time. The problem comes from the fact that you probably won't get everything in one playthrough, so you're gonna have to replay it and make different choices to get there. When you do this, it becomes glaringly obvious how little impact your choices actually have on the game.

- On the opposite end of the spectrum, when I'm playing an open-world game like GTA or Skyrim, and then a really weird bug that happens that I'm quite confident I didn't trigger. Takes me out of the experience and turns it into... something else.

- In fighting games, game mechanics that reward a player for playing badly (ie: supers you can only use at low health, sudden power increase, etc etc).

- Games where you can see the developers TRYING to push something in their game to look like it could be a meme. For example, Killing Floor constantly reminds you that the mehanical man enemy in the summer events can dance, which kills the mood of "the last of humanity's survivors are trying to fight off genetic mutations."

I know these are subjective, but I've always loved this because it allows something like a rope-a-dope into games.

- A video game with bad camera angles.
- Bad voice acting.
- Crappy OST.

- Lack of pretty females Bad aesthetic/art direction.
- Anything that disrupts game momentum.
- Bad netcode.

I know these are subjective, but I've always loved this because it allows something like a rope-a-dope into games.

The rope-a-dope was a good defensive strategy even if it required some physical punishment. Comeback mechanics gives you a bonus for poor fundamentals and/or getting your ass kicked. Not a fan, but I can see the similarities.

Bad pacing is one of the biggest things for me and it can apply for a lot of things such as story, gameplay structure and difficulty curve. If I feel like a game peaks too early or is too slow of a boil then it won't do it for me.

A lot of other things, but they are all very specific for whatever kind of a game im playing.

kills the mood of "the last of humanity's survivors are trying to fight off genetic mutations."
that mood was never really present in KF though :/
It is in the core maps and the first few DLC character packs.

Also this last update did a VERY good job of returning to roots, especially in the Objective Mode map.

Not to say that event maps can't be good, but the mood is definitely different.

Dumb-as-a-sack-o'-spuds enemy A.I.

Overabundance of ammo and healing items (survival-horror games only. *cough*DeepFear*cough*)

Unnecessary backtracking

Ridiculous difficulty spikes

Laughably horrible writing

Unimaginative character designs (A spiky-haired dude with amnesia and acute laryngitis? A chick with ginormous ta-tas? A Yaoi-bait villain? Gee! Sounds great!)

Repetitive combat

Lack of customization options (multiplayer games)

Terrible art direction

Using "FROM THE CREATOR/S OF [GAME YOU LOVE]" as an excuse to sell copies

Optional missions designed to shock players but usually end up failing to do so

Most of the time, yes. To be fair, though, if I hear that Tim Schafer was involved, that's usually enough to ensure a buy from me.

And unrelated to video games, hearing that Coraline was FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS made me realize that Henry Selick and Tim Burton are different people. Also that Burton is a one-trick pony and whilst Selick is not.

I got another one

Any game, particularly indie games, prioritizing being hard because "retro" or even just hard for the sake of hard, at the expense of, you know, actually being able to enjoy the game. Its possible to be hard but fun you know, why can't people even reach that balance? Why don't they want to? Just because a game's easy doesn't mean its not fun.
There was a sig here. Its gone now (thanks photobucket ya fecks)

When games wants to enforce some sort of deep plot and story line in favor of gameplay.

When games wants to be progressive by adding a token gay/transgender character and make the character based around the fact that they are gay/transgendered.

Moments where certain charaters are killed off just to add to the story

Padding out the roster of collectable critters in the most idiotic way possible: introducing recolored versions of said creatures and calling them "dark" or "evil"

Wonky physics

Super-last-gen character models

Brain-dead ally AI

Out of place stealth missions

-The fact that the game did not come out for my console

-Not having the quote "Not even a hair of yours will be left in this world" in the game

-Completely dumbed down gameplay
-lol big breasted women who wear completely revealing clothes held together by wishful thinking because we make games for men and they have dicks and dicks buy games that boobs sell.
-Stealth Missions in games that are not designed to have stealth missions
