After the conclusion of Capcom Pro Tour 2021, a teaser footage was shown for the next entry in the Street Fighter series.

Ryu is shown in his SFV alternate bearded look and sandels and Luke with a completely different appearence.

More details to come Summer 2022.

You know, I'm not the guy to go in and shit all over the place, but if the guys dared to redesign Ryu of all characters, and literally steal one of his copycat's designs for that, then I've got a bad feeling about this one...

And, I mean, you can't really shrug it off as his Battle Costume, Ryu did not have binding and sandals, but instead has Adon-like cloth on his hand. These mere details create a BIG difference.
Luke looks fine though, legitimately better than any of his SFV Costumes, IMHO.
Edit: changed an example image, the original one was his stance GIF from "Karnov's Revenge".

There's no way Capcom stole a design from a forgotten Data East franchise literally nobody outside of diehard fans know about. Mizoguchi is a generic design based off the Bancho archetype/culture/fashion. Ryu doesn't look like a bancho, he just has sandals and cloth cause he's supposed to evoke a far east martial artist in his core design. Really huge reach.

Well, maybe it IS like that. But, what I meant is, Ryu now looks more like a typical Ryu-copycat from a typical SF2-copycat. That's just wrong on some indescribable kind of level... [if reading this image with a serious tone was the right way, if that was an irony, then kek]

Still a WIP but don't be surprised if Capcom backtracks and sticks to his clssic attire come Summer.  Luke is now likely gonna be the new protag and Ryu's rugged appearance is him passing the torch.

I just wanna know if Itsuno is involved in someway :qq:

I'm not really understanding the copycat angle but I think Ryu's look is supposed to show the slight aging has progressed. He's starting to dress less like a karateka and more like a traveling master. I was sad they didn't maintain his "battle outfit" look as his canon story appearance, but they have aged up several characters so I'm hopeful they'll do it for him in this game

I want Ryu to get married in SF6 after beating Final Boss with Luke.

lol strong vibes from Tekken 5 reveal with the zoom on Jin's skin, sweat, and vapor.
Love the redesign. They should ease up on the glowing teeth though, Luke's smile looks real creepy.

Mizoguchi is not a Ryu copycat, he's a Tsurugi Momotarou copycat.

I want this game to be not to be a prequel and not a useless one and not be afraid to mix things up in story mode. I feel that current-generation consoles will be the target platforms. The shortage will end by then and be easier to obtain.

P.S. Add more Critical Arts!

The splash paint under lower brightness makes Luke look like another Netherrealms Joker redesign for Injustice 3 and now I can't take him being the hero seriously.
