While I feel that there are those with legit gripes, I feel as it's mainly the cynicism talking(that or bandwagoning) because it happened since FF7 and basically escalated for every subsequent release.

FFXIV didn't help either.

as much as i would like to like FF MMOs i just dont like the aspect of it being a pc type gameplay,(if that makes any sense) but i guess i dont have any  knowledge on what FFXI was like, i just know it was bad.

as far as FF series go, i never liked FF1,2,5, and 8, but 8 was somewhat enjoyable i suppose i didnt get far enough to see its potential(or it might have been that the disc was really bad)

i havent played a FF game since FF9, till i got access to FF13, which i found quite enjoyable. i was always excited to see new FF games come out whether i could get them or not, minus the MMOs

They need to hurry up with another Dissidia.  Finally got around to picking up Duodecim, loving the hell out of it.

Mainly because my favourite FF villain of all time is broken as hell in it.

They end up being played by millions even after 9 years?

It took XI most of those 9 years to even get a million players.

The total no. of players don't matter. The fact that it's still going strong after 9 years makes it a success.


I've always wanted to play it ever since it got released. I'm waiting till I can finally spend money online.

No. of players is cool and all but in general can you really say FFXI was a failure? It still has a very dedicated fanbase even after all these years. People who played the original FFXIV even went back when they found how bad FFXIV was.
