One group of fighters represent a brand crosses over to challenge the other. That is what we call a crossover. Some of them we're good, others we're bad, and the few earn the title of something I would like to call "The Best". This time it is your turn to choose the best fighting game crossover.

SvC for the NGPC all the way. Totally needs an arcade upgrade, even if it's in 3D.

Agree w/ Loona.
2nd i would say SvC chaos even though that game has so many problems, the roster is great and it definitely had the old school feel to it.

SvC was so bad, I guess I prefer playable mechanics to roster novelty

Fun for like the first 2 or 3, then you start to realize what you're playing. I've had that problem with everyone I've played it in.

Greetings, Mr. Bennet. I haven't played SNK vs. [glow=blue,2,300]Capcom[/glow] Chaos, so I wouldn't know what problems Shaggy was talking about.

Not really. It's when you judge your opinion on the review that you can't think for yourself.

Imagine a zanguief runing to attack ryu, ryu does a quick+kind of weak fast punch and hit the chest of zanguief, will this punch be enough to zanguief say/think \"oh no, this punch hurted a little, I better stop the attack and put my hand on my chest to help contain the pain while ignoring if ryu is going to make other attacks now"

the mechanics made chaos very boring to play.

And made the game not quite fit the feel of either company's best.

The single Exceed per fight thing seemed too arbitrary, and the power bar's system probably wasn't thought through either - starting with 1 of 3 levels was OK, but reach level 3 giving you limitless access to supers was weird - seeing as after that state was over you'd still have 2 level to use on supers.

One thing practically every SNK series has in one form or another is a way to avoid or limit projectiles (planes system in FF, making them use bar in AoF, slashing them sometimes in SS, dodge/roll in KoF). Capcom only used something like this consistently in SF3, so it borrowed rolls for its own systems in its crossover games. SvC had none of this.

Then there was the dash cancel or whatever, which ultimately broke the game competitively...

I remember when svc chaos was being released i read an article from SNK saying this was there attempt at implementing a Alpha 3 type system into an SNK crossover game. (in theory it sounds good).  The main thing about SVC, besides the odd usage of power bars was that it came at a time when SNK was all but bankrupt, and they released a unfinished project (look at guiles sprites if you doubt this) just to get some income.  Even with all its flaws the game is great, not for everyone though.

I'll second (more like seventh or eighth) pocket SvC, it just has far more love put into it than the average crossover.

Pocket Fighter's also pretty fun for that reason, game is like a love letter from Capcom to itself.

Edit: The brokeness discussion has so much potential I might just make a new thread out of it.
Edit2: done.
