This is a Street Fighter-like fangame I'm working on powered by the MUGEN Engine. The characters in this game are based on actual friends of mine. If you know my friends well, they ARE characters. I gave them weapons and abilities based on their talents/personalities. Also, I made the sprites from scratch.

The 1st demo (Version 0.1.0-Aug 2024) only had six playable characters based on friends and locations from Boston.

The 2nd demo (Version 0.2.0-Dec 2024) has 25 playable characters and also features friends and locations from Boston and my country (Venezuela).

The Music for the Title Screen, Select Screen and one of the stages was written by my friend Xavenga (one of the characters in the game).

So I looked over your work, and I have some things to say about it.

First off, the spritework is nice and clean. Not much room for error. However, an issue I am seeing is that the characters are very stiff in animation. So while it does look interesting and even stands out a bit, I would suggest putting most of the effort into adding more frames of animation to each character.

Secondly, if you are gonna showcase videos of this game, you might want to make them a bit more comprehensive, or in other words... explanitory. Since all of these characters seem to be unique for the most part, and honestly, I could consider just the look of these characters to be a great stepping off point for people to make their own variants to represent themselves, you should also consider explaining why each character matters, the pros and cons of them, and the balance they have in the game.

All and all, this looks quite promising, but you definitely should put all the focus in making the animations less stiff and more fluid. The sharp 75° and 90° attacks with the arms and legs feels very unnatural, like watching an early flash fighting game.

Thanks for your feedback! Quite frankly I didn't notice how stiff the animations were. Call me crazy but I'm actually "overall" pretty happy with them but yeah, there's always room for improvement. Perhaps I'm just used to the animations after all that "testing".

Regarding a more comprehensive video, I don't know. The idea was to have "original" characters and give them weapons based on their talents like for example, I have a friend who plays guitar so I thought it would be cool for him to use his guitar as a weapon and have projectiles in the form of "sound waves" come out of his guitar. Another character uses a scooter as a weapon and stuff like that.

By the way, I just relesed a new demo. I hope you see this as an improvement.
