I also found the spin off to be more entertaining that then original, I did not really start enjoying haruhi until half of the second season and liked it quite a bit with the movie; it's because of the way it's plot progression works in anime form.

iirc it has been unoficially confirmed that kyoani is not in charge. rumours point to the studio that did the recent lucky star spin off; I don't even know who did haruhi-chan or the nyoron one.

Tried watching Kill la Kill, dropped it before finishing the first episode. Gonna try Gundam Build Fighters

the latest shounen show I watched was blood lad, otherwise I tend to keep my shounen as just manga and even then it feels fillerific.

That manga is awesome. I've only read a few chapters but it's already better than a lot of other crap I've seen.
