Several years ago when Reu was entering the final development stages of Dragon Claw's first release, I asked for and was granted permission to polish up his work on the old "Evil Duo".  Later, realizing how big of a task that could turn into and already having my own projects, I dropped the evil updates to do other stuff - a decision that I came to regret upon Reu's passing...

With the second anniversary coming soon and Elecbyte coming back with an updated Mugen, Valodim thought it would be nice to update Reu's stuff to Mugen 1.0, and I figured I might as well pick up the old polish work again, this time with a bit Dragon Claw thrown in as well.

So, anyone can use this topic to list what needs fixing in each character, or what can be added to take advantage of the new Mugen features, or even to offer to help with something*.
To be a little more specific on the new Mugen features, you can suggest win quotes for Evil Ken and Evil Ryu, be they supposed to show under no particular condition or specific character dialogue (e.g. Evil Ken defeats Evil Ryu and has a special quote).

As a summary of my original (and still unchanged) intentions for the updates, I would like to keep the design and concept of all characters intact, only tweaking their applications in gameplay and fixing issues.  In other words, I'd like to fix all bugs and make the characters more fair, not fair-fair, but more reasonable than they currently are.
And if I end up unable to finish my part on this, all the updates done to that point will be shared for someone else to finish.

* Some areas where people could help are:
- Revising old sprites (edits)
- Revising collision boxes
- Separating colors in the sprites for a nicer look
- Original art for victory screens?

I also have two requests to make:
- Mugen Institute doesn't seem to be working here and I think I only have Evil Ken's intro on an old PC, would be nice to have it again.  Maybe someone else would like to update it though?  I've only done one storyboard in my life to see how stuff worked.
- I never got Dragon Claw's last version, but if someone else out there did it'd probably be nice to start from that one instead.

[size=07pt]Everyone has already seen a thousand pictures of Reu's work, and I'll be restarting the fixes from scratch since I have a better idea of what's needed nowadays, so I have nothing else to show in this topic for now and just posted to get the discussion going.[/size]

Just don't make them easier if they are missing a collision box that's one thing but making them pull punches is another.

I'm not touching the AI, by easier I mean adjusting move properties like invulnerability and damage output, and even giving them a defense handicap rather than boost.

I'm cool with that but how much are you going to change their damage output (less damage means weaker attacks)? What is a defense handicap?

He had done some fixes and was working on additions past that, but passed away before it went into testing.  Was wondering if someone ever got to see that version, but that may be a little too touchy of a subject.

Nerf Evil Ken's/Ryu's invincible Dragon-Punches, and way too long invincibility at the beginning of each Super Move.

Oh, also their extra defense was a bit much, along with extra health, and the 70% strength rating which wasn't real.

And lastly, their ability to cancel their Warps into supers .  --;

BTW, would you also do Evil Dan? I think ilcane87 doesn't work on him anymore.  :(

I want Dragonclaw to perform combos better kind of like how the AI does it. Also, Dragonclaw is silent. His win quote should be "...". DragonClaw is the strong yet silent type.

Its funny.... The Evil ken and ryu wear my first character ever in mugen. I'v never played with a better evil ken or ryu. :bigcry:

Can't wait to see them in the new Mugen...

Also will that be hi-res? Or the same.

I was thinking the exact same thing, like Akuma in a lot of quotes.  None of us has the right to give him a personality anyway.

Dragonclaws counters. Shouldn't work on projectiles. It's not right to be hit by a counter when you're halfway across the screen. I don't think his throws are coded right either within the character, or the AI, one or the other they seem to kick in too easily.

I MIGHT be able to do some sprite touchups when I'm not busy,I thought of a winquote for Ken but its kinda corny  :sugoi:

Please, fix Asura warp in the evil duo, it's too cheap!

I think you already know, but they can do any kind of move during the teleport... also the invincibility time at the end/start is too much!

I think the AI should be toned down a little bit, or maybe having a way to choose a level?

Yeah, I've noticed that they have too many invinceable states also. Just reduce those but keep the AI intact: Their fierce AI is a trademark of Reu. Not only that, you got bragging rights by going around saying that "I beat the evil duo with double flawless dude!"

tbh i really like the ashura-cancel-thingy evil ken was my 1st char in mugen and mi favorite, to play with and agaisnt him, evil ryu is a monster as well.... i don't know but  the ashura cancel is something i haven't seen in other chars and i like how they have it XD and how AI uses it, is always a challenge to fight their AI thats one of the main weapons but u can either get advantage of it, or learn how to defend yourself :P i hardly have a hard fight agaisnt other chars in mugen ( ofc those thet don't 1 hit u or smth) these char are smth rlly dope :P

This thread is slowly becoming a mini-elecbyte forum, "pleeeeeeease, add this, pleeeeease, do that" without even knowing what is going on, I just hope Vyx wont came here and advertise his HD Dragon Claw in real pixel size.

Anyway, to make it short, fix what's broken, like the cloning that tend to happen with Dragon Claw, dont remember exactly wich helper it was.
