Hi all

I'm having trouble making a small portrait look correct for the Marvel version of chameleon. I made a small portrait for him, it shows up fine on the select screen, but oddly enough..shows up black when in game. how can I change that?

If anybody can take a look, and see if they can correct the problem, here is the character -> https://www.mediafire.com/file/0jgyjv2vvs38vo1/Chameleon.rar/file

I'd appreciate the help.

I took a look at the SFF using Fighter Factory Studio and I already figured out what's wrong. The palettes on his main sprites are inconsistent and uses different ones on each sprite. The small portrait must use a group and index of (1,1) as it shares the main palette of his sprites for it to change color in-game. As it does not, that's why it shows up black as they are using the black colors all over the (1,1) palette. The small portrait must be fixed manually using Image Editor.
I will still do detail and aesthetic feedback for the rest.

Unfortunately not. As the small portrait itself is corrupted, it's much harder to be fixed as the original palette of it is not there. And even if I managed to, the colors won't match with the rest of the sprites as each of them uses their own palette rather than being shared with (1,1) since they may use different ones. Whoever made the SFF of the character did a bad job optimizing it.
I will still do detail and aesthetic feedback for the rest.

I just tried to skim through your 400+ palettes looking for the proper one for the spite. It doesnt seem like it got saved.

If you're sure the avatar's palette is the same as the main palette, You can import sprites using Fighter Factory 3 with the Force Palette option.

You can use this guide
https://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/use-fighter-factory-3-make-palette-fast-177794.0.html
To make a palette for the sprite, then put those colors into the main palette. THEN you'd import the sprite using force colors. That should work.

I've taken a swing at your tutorial 3 trimes, and I suppose I struck out. I didn't get the result I wanted. even with the pictures in the tutorial, things didn't go my way. I used 2 diferent sprites too, in order to hopefully make a new small portrait. can you please help me? trust me, I JUST attempted another go at your tutorial. Not having luck here...

I got some problems with small portraits since a time ago until now, and the only way I could fix it is not to use the shared sprite on it. I mean, if the small portrait is added with the shared palette, then unmark it in your program of choice (mostly FF, I still use MCM) and save the SFF. It works for me, maybe could work on you
