It's not even the Arika characters. it's just Kairi. Because everyone loves edgy shotos

i recently played the games on MAME. the one i spent the most time with was EX2, and I'm sorry but i can't find the appeal in the new characters at all. only thing i liked was the Variant combos.
why were they never played at EVO though? it seems weird that EVO would skip playing a new street fighter game and stick with SF3.
I'm going to let god handle you people ✞

I like Kairi for his uppercut-air rush super, his air fireball super, and his false SGS combo (not the black screen and scream version, the other one)

EX never had a real shot. EX1 and EX3 were unpolished. EX2+ is the most played one but it was competing for time with Super Turbo, Alpha 2, Marvel 2, Third Strike, CvS2 (oddly enough, that game was panned by players when it first came out). Yeah, wasn't getting ahead of those games.

Actually all EX games had really dumb stuff in them. In EX1, the game you'd think would be least broken since it didn't have Excel or Tag Combos, Zangief is so good cause he can SPD people out of hit and blockstun and his body splash is so fat. Excel was super good in EX2+ and everyone built meter so fast in that game so you'd see it maybe 4 or 5 times a round.

I'd actually be happy with any Arika character if Capcom randomly decided to include one, even if it was Pullum.

Hey, some people thought it made the game more interesting that way but yeah, Excel is pretty ridiculous.

The EX chars are fun and all so I guess I have a higher tolerance for hearing it all. It is rather redundant though.

As in, randomly buy the rights to characters created by a different company, just for shit n' giggles, so. Like buying, I don't know, Indiana Jones. Right. Still not happening.

Didn't that already happen with the Marvel games and with the CVS games as a temporary deal?

Those were crossovers. This is a SF game.

No, it did not. Capcom did not randomly buy the rights for all the Marvel characters for shit n' giggles. They made a deal with Marvel specifically to make this big crossover, sequel to two other massive crossovers from a while back. They worked together, they decided together what would go in it, and Marvel made a big investment in it, and they had the final say about what would happen to it. Meanwhile, SNK had the right to make a game of their own with the Capcom characters. You might draw a better comparison with the Infamous guy in SF x Tekken, but even then, this was already a crossover, and Sony helped them, so it made sense.
So no, the same did not happen.

You guys talk as if Arika was a big company like Marvel (and, arguably, SNK). Arika is not known for anything by anyone, in fact, most people who played SFEX probably think they're all Capcom because Street Fighter is from Capcom. I doubt Arika would decline a chance for one of their characters to be included in a mainstream game.

For free ? No. For any amount of money ? Capcom won't bother.

Maybe if they (arika) were actually going to do something with their properties. Otherwise it'd cost major cash.  I mean it's not completely impossible that Sony or Capcom wouldn't throw them some cash as a guest for the fan pops. But I wouldn't hold my breath because in this day and age they have to write far more extensive contracts.

Permission to use in game, for any and all platforms that they may put it on now till infinity. Marketing/intellectual rights for VARIOUS sorts of media that'd have to last forever.

Crossovers and smaller games having guest characters wouldn't be too big of a deal. In later adaptations and ports they typically get removed.
I don't think Capcom would want to do anything like that for a game like SF in the KEY series.

I just found out this game is going to have small input buffering for normals, turning 1f links into 3f links. They fixed the one complaint I had about Street Fighter. ;D I'm sure there are people unhappy about that but I couldn't be happier.

I'm happy. I don't mind some 1 tick links. But basing the entirety of the game's combo system on it was horrible.
