Ouch.  All this talk of a fighting games revival and SNK are pulling out of the biz?  It's like SNK are allergic to success...

DMK

Maybe that conference is about Capcom saving them, well at least the fighting part.

heres an article
QuoteAround the end of the development period, I was sleeping under my desk with a towel rolled around me, laying on newspaper. It's just memories now, like the way how I almost caught a cold with the air conditioner on while asleep, or like how I hit my head on my desk when I woke up. XII's console [development] period was seriously really bad.

SNT

Bigger ouch.  That was the first I'd seen that.  How does a company get that bad?

Jango

wtf..is there
ANYTHING
you do thats
not closing down
that DIVISION?

shithead.

Hopefully they'll sell the KOF license to a good company. But that seems like too good a move for SNK to make.

They should just rent out the series to capcom for a CVS3 in order to get them out of the red.

kakkoii superhero

if only they made MOTW style of sprite instead of hi res deformed characters. somehow they succesfully made me hate mai shiranui & king sprite ,2 female characters I like the most design wise.
so I couldn't care less.

Would anyone mind linking to the site that said they were going to have a booth together or something? At the very least Capcom should pitch in for the new KoF and get that released. It was looking so awesome.  :'(

It wasn't so much as site as a mistake in the CES 2011 pamphlet, apparently. Shame, that was a whole lot of hope that managed to fit into 4 characters, "/SNK".
I don't really see Capcom bethering with a CvS3 anytime soon, between MvC3 and its DLC, SFxT, the online version of SF3:3S and their figuring out if their own Darkstalkers license is worth using again in a game of its own. Not that I'd mind a pleasant surprise in this regard.

I think I need to go to the PSN store and buy the stuff that's there that wasn't in the Arcade Classics compilation... may not make a big difference, but its something.

They recently opened a big neogeo store, I checked it out yesterday. They are probably taking most of their current revenue from it.

QUICK, MAKE A NEOGEO LAND IN 3D AND SEND IT TO THEM SO THAT THEY CAN HOST A PSN HOME EVENT.

As a longtime and very hardcore SNK and KOF fan, this news hurts me a LOT.  But in my heart I knew it was coming.  SNKP has probably the worst business sense of any gaming company I've ever seen.  All those years of exclusively catering to their already not necessarily gigantic Japanese fanbase and totally ignoring everywhere else (including their massive cult following in latin countries) has proven to be a flat out suicidal move.  KOF 13 was such a great game, but if they wont even attempt to sell it on consoles and advertise it, then they can't possibly expect success.

It's depressing, but it's not very surprising.  I just hope Capcom attempts a buyout, that way KOF and all of SNK's neglected series can be in the hands of a stable company with good business sense.

A company that neglects their own IPs despite fans, just look at the Vampire series...

Didn't help them either by making alot of the rereleases XBLA only and not fighting Sony more to put them up on the PSN. They'll make it...they have too. Shit Square made it through that atrocity that was called FF14.

SNKP isn't big enough to stand their ground when negotiating with a much bigger company.

Comparing them to Square-Enix is kinda dumb - for them, even if FF14 gets bad reviews, they still have plenty of other titles that by name alone get a lot of press and assured sales. You seriously can't compare the size of the Final Fantasy fanbase to that of the KoF series and consider it a similar situation.
Maybe f you were comparing it to Squaresoft... but then, which would be SNKP's Enix?...
