The only ones we have are geckos and anoles, and the occasional Jackson Chameleon that used to be fad pets to own, but now are considered invasive after they hunted a native species of snail to near-extinction, so now the fad is to capture and/or kill them. Unfortunately, unlike boar-hunting (yes, a lot of people hunt invasive species for a hobby), you don't get an awesome smoked-pork dinner afterwards.

Nah. It is not dangerous. It plays with their dogs and they let him roam freely around their property, while not letting it go out so ignorant, fearful neighbours won't end up killing it.
It is a Tegu, and about one metre long, maybe more.
