If you can add an English voice for him, it would have to be those weird voices like Ralf Jones' voice from KOF MAXIMUM INPACT.

Personally, I think either Alba or Kyo in English voice will be a good fitting.

You made a really good point. I actually still have some trouble trying to translate his design into pixel art, in differentiating the shading from the outlines and whatnot.

I will definitely think about it. Thank you so much for the feedback. :c00l:

If you need a hand, by all means, feel free to message me (either here or on Discord). I'll happily help whenever you want, if anything gives you trouble.

If you'd like, I can help you reshade what has been animated so far. I know how much it sucks having to redo sprite work that was already finished.

Sorry for the late reply. I have the habit of tuning in on the message boards only after having some kind of progress to show; which is to say, I did actually update some of the animations, based on your edit:

Still, any help on the remaining animations would be greatly appreciated! If you still have some spare time for it, of course.

As somebody who's (INCREDIBLY SLOWLY) working on their own version of Capcom Fighting All-Stars, this is awesome to see! I hope you won't mind if I use this character for my own project... whenever I get back around to it :P.

I do have one critique, though - his height. Maybe it's been a while since I've seen any footage, but I don't remember him being that much taller than Ryu? I could have sworn they were of similar height, if not the same.

Ayo, just letting you guys know, the project is still going. :kugoi:

At long last, all previous sprites were updated to a more accurate CvS style of shading. I also took the time to adjust some proportions here and there.

Really big thanks to @MotorRoach: ! Who not only provided great feedback during the process, but also went as far as updating some of the animations himself, such as the standing and walking forward animations:

The shading update is not entirely the reason for me taking this long to make a new post, though. I just wanted to have something else that's also pretty substantial to go alongside it. So here it is, some brand new animations:

Getting hit (high)

For the very basic animations, I don't really mind just using other CvS2 characters as a base. With that said, though, this one actually takes cues from both Terry and Rock gethit sprites, resulting in a somewhat original pose between the two. This is likely the approach I'll be taking for the remaining gethits, as well.

Also, shoutouts to @KarmaCharmeleon: his guide to CvS style gethits really helps a lot! :kugoi:

Running

The original one is quite simple and straightforward (no pun intended). I almost considered simply using Ryu's running animation as a base, but just for the sake of not having another character moving like the shotos without any reason, I went for the next coolest option: Kim Kaphwan.

Standing medium (strong?) kick

Now, this is sort of a special case:

Since the original animation looks pretty unique, and there's full footage of it in the more traditional perspective, I actually took the challenge to simply draw directly above the avaiable material, rather than finding another character with a similar animation.

It did brought a few headaches, due to the blurry footage nature; but looking at the end result, I can confidently say it was worth the effort:

Because the original CFAS would be a 4-button game, it's very likely this would be his standing heavy kick. But, I think I'm gonna repurpose it as the medium kick for this personal version, since I do have another idea for the HK. We'll see...

And that's about it for now! As usual, all current sprites will be attached to the 1st post as well. :c00l:

Hi man! Of course you can use anything from this project! :2thumbsup:

About the height, these are the points of reference I have:

The first one is the screenshot used for the very first sprite, which also fully features Ryu on the same plane.

I admit the CvS Ryu sprite used in here has a slightly different pose than the source, so while taking that into account I might not have scaled it 100% right.

But then there's the second source:

If we look at each character's canonical height, and assume that Capcom also took those into account when making the new sprites for CvS (Ryu is clearly based around his SFII design, so it would use his SFII height), then the sprites I made so far actually come kinda close to the source material:

So yeah, I guess D.D. just happens to be a quite tall fella. :P

...

Oh, right, uh... yeah, there's that other little thing that happenned while I was offline:

Spoiler (click to show)
...Ingrid was added as a playable character in Street Fighter 6. She's officially part of the crew now, for real for real this time. (not in a crossover, not in a alternate version of a spinoff, she's in a actually numbered Street Fighter game doing actual things in the Street Fighter lore)

But why does it matter, anyway? Isn't the new Ingrid a totally different entity from her original All-Stars counterpart, sharing absolutely nothing from the original backstory or it's characters?

Well, that's the weird thing... This might not be the case anymore. In SF6, Ingrid actually talks, in multiple instances, about the concept of being a Code Holder...!

While not really mentioning any other character in these dialog portions, the game still goes out of it's way to show the clear pictures of D.D., Rook and Avel in one of Ingrid's memories! So, in a way, we are finally able to see them all together, in a official and released game! Hooray, I guess...?

There's not just that, though. The way things are vaguely explained in-game leaves a little too much up to interpretation... Are the other Code Holders quite literally just a memory now!? Or are they alive somewhere...? And if so, does it mean that... all of them have interdimensional powers too!? (Or at least some extent of it, due to the original backstory having Ingrid as the only one with a "natural code"— a term that also shows up in one of the items given by her in SF6's story.)

The possibilities are endless... but does this new piece of lore affect my original plans in any capacity? I would say, not really... The goal remains the same; my fanfiction approach is still gonna be fanfiction, afterall.

But I might actually have a few ideas on how to link the original All-Stars lore to the Cosmic Space Entity lore we have today, now that SF6 reinforces that everything can indeed be connected... But that's gonna have to wait until I reach the fullgame portion of the project first!

(Though I gotta say now, the mere idea of everyone else just having reality-warping powers, it's just so goofy... that I might actually wanna play a little with it, just for the funzies. The standalone MUGEN releases of theses guys don't need to be tied a speciffic story, afterall! :tongue3: It wouldn't affect gameplay nor be anything too extreme though— nothing that current timeline Ingrid can't already do. ;))

Momotaro

Very nice work.
About the low kick move, upper body looks stiff. can be updated. :)

So far, they didn't mentioned that D.D and Rook had extradimensional powers, they're pretty much possibly going to follow the original CFAS lore that DD and Rook were experiments using the Codes from a mysterious organization(Maybe the Illuminatti), making them more of enhanced super-humans than otherworldly entities.

Also, Ingrid is not the only native Code Holder, Avel is also a natural Code Holder as well, and they're deeply connected. D.D and Rook are living in SF world, the only thing that remains is their official debut into the series [And Avel being likely the potential new villain for SF6 or even SF7]
