The Railgunner

I've been working on this for a while, and I think it's time I posted this project's WIP topic.

Current list of completed/mostly complete characters:

Akuma/Gouki
M. Bison/Vega
Ryu
Sagat

In Progress:

Chun-Li (95%)
Dhalsim (95%)
Balrog/M. Bison (90%)
Ken (80%)
Fei-Long (65%)
Dee Jay (60%)
Vega/Balrog (30%)

Not Yet Started:

Blanka
Cammy
E. Honda
Guile
T. Hawk
Zangief

Since no WIP topic is complete without screens, here they are:

Tell me what you think!

Advertising wise, I think you should :
- not show a screen with a Ken who obviously has palette/SFF problems.
- not use a high-res stage with low-res mugen.
- Use better names than SSF2T Ryu and the likes, but just the short name.

As for the idea, it's nice, but just make sure you balance the chars between each other, and don't add many ideas in one char while neglecting others. From your past creations, you're not going for accuracy, so I suggest you say to everybody that the gameplay is in no way SF2 style, even though all the cosmetics are there.

First of all, I don't know what you're getting at. It's a WIP, dude. It's nowhere near done. And the gameplay is something I have to fix, though I'll need help as I don't know shit about combos and the like. That stage isn't going to be in the final release. And the reason Ken has palette problems is because he's based off of my Ryu, and I haven't implemented Ken's palettes (they exist, I'm just not using them yet). And keep in mind that I'm not done with the names either. Second of all, why the hell are you saying that I'm not going for accuracy? I'm trying my damnedest to do so, and if I'm doinig a bad job of it, then why don't you help out?

Didn't know sagat was from soviet russia

You didn't know that Comrade Sagat was a Soviet?

The screenpack alternates the nationality pics - they aren't specific to the characters (I'll probably integrate the sprites into the big portrait for this effect).

No offense but your previous SFF2T characters were not accurate at all and tasted like unfinished creations to me because of too much perfectible things.

BTW, if you plan to convert stages, please do not forget to read parallaxes tutorials (VIB's or Winane's for instance). Most of the time, CPS2 stages are butchered because of a msiconfigured 3D effect.

Anyway, I'm glad to see someone taking so much interest into an SF2 episode instead of CVS2, MVC2 or KOFXI :)

Good luck with this wip.

The Railgunner

Yeah, I know, I know...

There's very little I can do to make my SSF2T characters more accurate because I don't know much about the more intricate workings of the game. Hence, I'm basically asking for help.

There are, what, three or four CvS2 related projects floating around? And all of the Brawl Mugen shit? Trust me when I say this, but this is likely the only break from these trends that Mugen will see in a loooong time.

Your ST Ryu is actually Hyper Fighting Ryu(not gameplay wise).

Do you know how to rip sprites ?
WOO! WOO! WOO!
PSN / XBLA - ViewtifulSuxx

The Railgunner

By screenshot, yes, but I can't do this from the game rom. Crouching sprites can't be obtained by screenshot or ArtMoney. And re-doing the sprites would require me to realign and clean the pcx's, which would make for one hell of a project.

Luis Alejandro

uhhh.. its not that much work if you think about it.

The Railgunner

...you mean ripping from the rom or screenshots?

If you want to learn about SF2 and attempt to recreate it accurately, there are plenty of resources on the web available that even go as far as lists of move timings and cancellability for every character. It's also easy enough to open the emulator and do some experimenting yourself. Use an "SSF2 Speed" cheat to disable any frame-skipping (ST, like most 2D fighters with speed settings, increases gameplay speed by skipping frames), then pause and use the emulator's frame advance command to get accurate timings. You can find velocity values with ArtMoney. Unfortunately, there's no way to get hitbox data from ST that I know of (aside from the recently-released HD Remix, which doesn't display push boxes, nor boxes of any kind for projectiles).

Huh? :S

The Railgunner

Correction: I can't obtain them because my I would have to hold Down+Attack  Button and, while doing that, press F12. I can't do all of that at once (I use Final Burn Alpha, hence the F12).

Does Final Burn have a frame advance function? In Kawaks, you can do this:

-Press enter while holding down (to pause while crouching).
-Press Space Bar while holding Shift, down, and attack (to frame advance while inputting crouching attack command).
-Continue to press pace bar while holding Shift to advance frame by frame as the animation plays.

WOW how come I haven't seen this thread, I love the old school street fighter! :sugoi:

Sam

in kawaks you can do better. first of all use the artmoney to freeze the char in one position, o get the right axis. after this, press shift+f5. you will start to record all the movments. after do everything that you wanna do, press shift+f5 to stop the recording. Then press shift + f7 to playback, and then use the shots factory to rip the char without bg.
