First time editing an MK Sprite, or anything realistic, for that matter. Just a shitty tribute to the new game that's out. This is what MSPaint and an hour worth of patience will get you... I know the pose is not MK9 accurate, but that was the idea. Can anyone with a little bit more experience throw some criticism my way? I was thinking of editing a few more... I do think this one looks decent, but I'd like to make sure there aren't any glaring flaws anyone has noticed, before I get started with the rest.More stuff:
sprite looks pretty good, although there is something awkward about it that I cannot place my finger on...And as for the stance not being accurate, dont worry about it.

I'm not good at editing photographic stuff. I'm not that happy with that sprite myself, hence the reason I asked for feedback. If you'd like some help, feel free to ask, but I can't really promise you anything. I do these dumb things for fun when I have time, which is not often... You'll notice most of my posts have to do with "single sprites". I mean, I put some effort into them (the Fire Emblem ones were the ones I was most proud of), but I can't find the motivation to do anything lately. Thanks for the compliment, though
Sorry for bumping this old thread (even though it's my thread). Just figured it'd be better to add the new sprite in the same thread rather than create a new one every time I come up with one of these. If one of the mods disagrees, please let me know and I won't do it any more.See first post for new sprite (Jax).Again, I need help learning how to do this... Not for any projects or anything but for my own amusement. I have no experience with photo editing whatsoever and am using MSPaint. Please throw some C&C my way.
this may sound kinna dumb, but striker and jax heads are dumb in my opinion would be cool if some1 could modify them Also their poses are dumb and their legs are too fat (i know they're default legs)
Assuming you're not trolling... can you be provide a bit more constructive criticism? Like I said, I don't intend to change their poses since they're supposed to be MK9 versions of the UMK3 sprites. And yes, those are their original legs and their original heads, so I'm not sure what you want me to do about them. I already cut Stryker's hair so that it'd be shorter, like in MK9. I'd add some hair to Kano if I ever did a sprite of him, but I don't plan to change their faces altogether if they somehow go with their UMK3 look.

Your feedback! Could you explain why they look dumb to you?
woah people I didn't mean to be rude, i'm sorry...I was just expecting a little more changes form the default models...for example their heads were made 2 decades ago, they are too big for bodies. Jax's torso is especialy smaller than the rest of his body, and could use some make-up-Also, the legs... i mean rly... Overal, i'm suprised that you decided to modify the old sprites, since the character look has been changed so much... you know... those were actors... and today they're game models, not real people... Back then pictures of real people looked cool... today they dont...I just thought you were gonna do one of them total reskins like thishttp://fc01.deviantart.net/fs17/f/2007/146/8/c/Armageddon_Characters_for_MK3_by_Methados.png(yes i know they're not the best, but still better than actor sprites in my opinion) I love what you've done with scorpion for example I meerly thought that since they should present MK9 characters they should look like...you know... MK9 CHARACTERSand if that is not possible, it's ok i'm not a programmer so i don't get to say: "you could have done that better"However, i do have EYES and i say it's not close to MK9
That's okay... your previous criticism was nothing more than "that's DUMB" so that's why I said it wasn't constructive.I still don't understand, though... like you said, they're actors. How can the dude's head be too big if that's the size of his real head? Unless you're saying that the actor himself had a big head, which is their mother's fault, not mine... I don't know if you're either missing the point (no offense) or if maybe you don't realize how different these are from the originals. The website you showed me is doing EXACTLY what I did (only with MK:A instead of MK9). Their only difference is their higher use of frankenspriting, which I am not willing to do because it looks choppy if done incorrectly, and it would miss the point of learning how to edit realistic sprites, which I'm trying to do.I've posted the original sprites next to the redone ones... maybe you'll be able to better appreciate the differences that way?Again, I'm not offended nor am I trying to be defensive... I just REALLY don't understand your points, since you contradict all of them by showing me that link.Maybe I'm just dumb? I dunno... can anyone else explain what he's trying to say with different words?
oh boy...english is hard language for explaining stuff...Ok so here's my point of view:-This is mk9 sprites (in 2d) = it is important that sprites look like 2d mk9 characters-now stryker and jax are *dressed* like mk9 character and therefore look like them... It just bugs me that they are left so... untouched... "default"-Even worse they are actors wich means they are anatomicaly correct, witch is not always good (especialy in vedio games where everybody uses anime-style overbuffnes and so on)-I mean look at jax and then look a new scorpion: look at the details and then look at jax-stryker is ok maybe could add a "totaly black hat" that'd be cool (and ya different legs but least he looks good and game-implemented)-but jax stands out. Scorpion and Stryker have that game-ish look, jax looks like i just took a picture of myself and put myself in game... he's just not believable as a quality character to meI feel he should get:1. better muscles on torso2. better head (the head's kinna blurry cus its a picture... maybe something like mk4 head)3. different legs: completley different legs would be nice these ones look like he's in a bagy pijamas"frankenspriting" - That last website: Overkill You: UNDERkillTo conclude i'm saying: Maybe you should cut out on the VANILLA and try to frankensprite a BIT on JAX cus JAX kinna looks like JAX that ive been playing for last 12+yearsoh ya and different pose for jax pls

ok ive said my thing im sorry for posting a bit too much all in all love the work, and i think markpatchy is automaticaly opposed to all i say lolz just happy this is being made at all but for one last time:-is this mk 90's game with mk9 design if you use 90's design? nope...-does it have to be totaly redone like scorpion? nope... (but that sprite is awesome dude)maybe something in the middle of the two, like this cyrax
