Spoiler: Ryu, Makoto, Retsu, Gouken, Akuma (click to see content)
I don't like Ryu and Makoto being grouped together. Both have established locations they're associated with, Ryu's stages are almost always on or around Suzaku Castle, and Makoto has the Rindoukan dojo. As a lead character I'd be okay with Ryu having a stage to himself, or at least having someone more closely connected with him sharing the stage, Gouken for instance.

Variations: Day, Sunset, Night/Thunderstorm (Evil Ryu?)
I'd group Makoto with Retsu, and have them share the Rindoukan dojo.

Variations: Overcast, Rain?
Akuma (and Gouken if he's not with Ryu) should be one of these two:

If you're going with Akiba, that CVS1 stage would be good. Wish I had a better picture.

No idea what you'd do as a variation though.
Spoiler: Ibuki, Geki (click to see content)
As long as the ninja motif is going to be shared between two characters from rival ninja clans, I don't think it's a good idea to use Ibuki's village stage. They'd kick Geki's ass if he just wandered in... What you'd need is a neutral area, something deep in the bowels of nature while carrying over elements of Japanese mysticism. Akuma's Third Strike stage would work well.

Variation: Regular, and the other teeming with spirit energy or mist or something.
Spoiler: Guy, Cody, Poison (click to see content)
I stand by the suggestion I made earlier, the SFA Metro City alleyway.

These were intended to be Day, Night and Sunset That's A Little Bit Pink Because Poison's Pink As Well I Don't Know Whatever.
Spoiler: Hugo, Sodom, Haggar, R.Mika, wrestlers in general (click to see content)
Obviously a ring. Or if you wanted something different take R.Mika's Alpha stage and do a Bash At The Beach sort of thing.

Variation: different stage lighting, crowd holding different signs that reference the character whose stage it is, etc.
Zangief, however, I think falls in the same place as Ryu; he's an OG, he sorta deserves not to be clumped in with five other characters. I'd give him his Foundry stage.

A good idea for variation of something like this would be to add in some of the Soviet symbolism, old flags, the hammer and sickle, etc. for Zangief's stage, then have the variant (given to Decapre?) use more post-Federation (or even Shadowloo) stuff.
