Well, not if all of your characters are sharing the same common1 and common snd files; just like a full game setting. You would only have to do it once. But if you are talking about a bunch of characters coded by different people, you would have to edit them one by one. Maybe someone knows an easier way to do it. However, that's how I did it in my darkstalkers full game. I used a helper with variables to randomize the announcer.

But just to make sure, all the characters that I didn't make i can just add; "stcommon = common1.cns" to them and program myself a common state using a obscure state number? Instead of copy pasting the whole state into every characters individual state files? Cause that doesn't sound quite as tedious.
Sorry for asking too much I'm pretty basic in states so far, I'm learning as I go with my current project. Most I've done before this year is alter variables for balancing purposes.
