Re: Would you rather be shot by a bullet or laser?

first my answer: laser. reason, it might not penetrate, depending on its strength, duration, and frequency. (even a .22 can kill, you know, traveling internally and such.)

now to get nerdy; in Star Wars the bulk of those "blasters" are plasma bursts, not lasers. they kill from shock and impact, not heat. and Dalek lasers are probably like Star Trek phasers that stun or disintegrate a target. (i think they are like lasers but, wait "PHoton MAsers" they have a setting for the duration and strength.)

well; just thinking here to myself; it seems that you're going to have to specify the parameters of this little contest. good luck.

and NO america wasn't founded by religion, but that blanket covers a lot of ills don't it? (MONEY and CHEAP LABOR are always behind the scenes of new discovery. ALWAYS.)

naaaahh, that's my cute daughter, me? i'm the broke-down one holding the sign, begging to keep the job i don't like. but hey it's a good job, the pay is great, the conditions are just blah. it's all good. "better to be tired, dirty, and paid from working  than clean and broke from drawing."

opps the sign, well the company i work for is threatening to close the shipyard i work at and this was a rally to "show our solidarity". the shipyard is a major employer in my community and the surrounding areas, and to close would really be "bad".

(could i have been more vague? i work for northrop grumman, and live near new orleans. sorry about that.)

isn't krypton the pinnacle of a scientific society??? that looks like a reject from "lord of the long walk." i'm starting to feel it coming again; this one is looking like it might beat king of the fighters.

i'm just asking, what's wrong with having shorts on the outside? hell wrestlers still do it, and we all like professional wrestling.(or at least understand that their costumes tend to be outlandish.) i don't see this one being better than "cap". what he does on screen should be "super" not his costume, they're going about this the wrong way. 'sigh' this may not be better than thor. superman deserves better.

i mean stage interaction like marvel v.s. capcom. with a little ec thrown in for the kills only. just like challenge from the darkside.

(with street fighter 4 i really want to throw someone into those tables in china, or through the wall into one of those shops. they coulda did it! ;D)

now that WOULD make for great gaming! thanks for the info and fond memories.

it makes  you wonder though; the things that can be done now with cel shaded polys, the entire stage, traps and all could be rendered and the game would LOOK better than the old cut scenes, and we would have interactive backgrounds. (like street fighter 4 failed to have.) we would actually have our old "seeeeeyyy-gaaaaa" back. but dreams are just that,..... PEACE, and thanks.

challenge from the darkside was a superb title compared to what else was available at the time. this should be an interesting thread for us old folk. the youngsters here barely recall the genesis, and when they do their fondest memories are of sonic. but don't let that stop you, inform us!!! ;D

"capo-REAL" is legit, but remember if you're ready for the technique it isn't a surprise and then you can "hack" away at the unnecessary bits. i witnessed a practitioner spar with someone who didn't know what art was going to be used, and the capoiera guy side stepped the first kick and grabbed the anchor leg in one of the most elegant moves; causing the unprepared guy to fall to the floor in a heap, unable to continue. i then informed the capo-guy about the dangers of sparring with someone who isn't of their caliber; downright dangerous.
back on subject; growing up in the 70's there were many legends surrounding Bruce and his death and return. supposedly he was always getting into "street fights and lost to someone with the "vibrating palm" technique. AAND that he wasn't really dead, but "really" training in the mountains and would return in 1984. (there is a movie about his life that has all of this stuff in it; i've seen it a million times as a kid but the title escapes me.)

*i personally believe that the same thing happened to ali, and a few others. you know like a "goki" or "kenshiro" or "yajiro" like character is running around challenging the best of the best. hey that would make a great movie, or video game!!* :D

all disciplines have their strengths and weaknesses, which is why Bruce's "way of the intercepting fist" helps you to hack away at the useless parts and incorporate new things that do work. however ninjitsu starts out with this concept. "to fight a grappler, you must be a better fighter; and to beat a fighter, you must be a better grappler." punches and kicks and holds are elementary, and each martial art reaches its pinnacle through the use of weapons.
and remember fighters in a structured setting generally tend to have an unspoken "respect" for each other and this fact prevents them from going "all out". "hey, i thought we were sparring???" :o
