This thread will serve as the epicenter of all my work in progress.

All Portraits, Stages, Screenpacks and hopefully someday even Characters that I work on shall be discussed here.
  • CAPCOM HD REMASTERS
The purpose of this project is to "refresh" if you will, art from 2 majorly known CAPCOM games and bring it to HD resolutions.

I will be releasing the complete raw images in my deviantART once finalized,

...and of course, I have HLOADER's SFZ3 HD Screenpack in mind when I do these. Victory portraits will also be reworked.

Hmmmm...sounds like a plan. + I'd be honored.

Unused artwork for SFZ3 that I scanned and traced from my copy of SF20. Consider yourself lucky.  ;) Also, it would make for a great encounter against Sagat for all the right reasons.

There's also a happy Ingrid and a frowning one....oh and Yang.

PM me if you'd like to see what I have.
All of your Mugen Portrait needs may be found HERE.

I'd like to report two robots on the MFG forums: One is EXShadow. The other is Saikoro.
There should be a Saikoro plugin for Photoshop.

Thanks Saikoro. We'll definitely be in touch.

Quick tutorial on how I do these things:

1. I enlarge the base image to the size I want to work with. Also, cleaning it up around the borders to create a render somewhat helps.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

2. I use the polygonal lasso tool with NO anti-alias and create a fine base, and fill it up with an eye-popping color that you won't be using on the final image. (this makes a lot of sense later)
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

3. I semi-trans the found image and start drawing the outline on a new layer. With a tablet this is cake, otherwise use the polygonal lasso or your favorite tool for drawing line art)
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

4. After line art come the colors. Create separate layers for each color and overlap them rationally (skin goes under clothes layer, lighting goes over shading). TIP...I use polygonal lasso WITH antialias/0px feather before filling with color. Use as you see fit.

5. Toggle between colors and line art to see if things make sense and are correctly overlapping each other, and when you think its ready to go fill that base we created on step 2 with the same color used for the Outline drawing. This will give you a clean surface around the final picture so that way you don't have to mess with cutting a render all over again. The image should be ready to go at this point.

6. Remember, the more dynamic the line drawing and the more colors the image has...the more time these things take...but with time and practice you get better, cleaner results. PATIENCE & DEDICATION ARE KEY.  :D

You mean his Select portrait and Victory portrait?

Unless I missed something, I will only work on his Victory Portrait because his Select portrait looks fine in that link C-G-U referenced to earlier.

Glad it could serve its purpose. 8)

Added a WIP list to the first post so everyone can see what's on my progress plate right now.

After those are done, I just might start taking requests...but not just yet.

You're easily rivaling Capcom's own releases. These look amazing. No doubt about it.

What are your resolution settings, E.G. Height/Width/Resolution?? I'm curious....

Keep up the great work. I'm currently on Sentinel from MvC2. His face alone took a solid 2.5 hours to touch up!!
