Wow. A majority of those look terrible. How the fuck did American Hustle get nominated for picture of the year!?

When I was about 12 or so, I used to watch the Oscars. Now, I don't even care. Look at the nominee list!!
All of your Mugen Portrait needs may be found HERE.

I'd like to report two robots on the MFG forums: One is EXShadow. The other is Saikoro.
There should be a Saikoro plugin for Photoshop.

I'm shocked that Tom Hanks got snubbed for his performance in Captain Phillips.

Best Animated Feature
The Croods (Chris Sanders, Kirk DeMicco, Kristine Belson)

what the fuck

The power of Nic Cage, baby.

Also it was a pretty dry year for animated features. At least Epic and Planes didn't get nominated. Augh.

Imo, 2013 was a year of pretty bland and boring cinema and music.

I didn't watch the Grammys and could care less about the Oscars. :/

Television on the other hand was brilliant.

...I gotta admit, the lack of Pacific Rim up here is surprising.

Also, no Paperman for Best Animated Short Film?  Also confused when I looked up some of these, that Room on the Broom short says it's originally from 2012, just first airing in the U.S. last year.  So shouldn't that also disqualify The Wind Rises as it's not getting to the U.S. for one more week?

Or do I have no idea how these nominations work, as I presume?

His acting is "OK" in that movie. He delivered the lines he was fed, he acted the part, but it didn't require much than looking scared a couple of times. Nothing to write home about IMO.

Best Actress in a Leading Role
Amy Adams (American Hustle) - Nope.
Sandra Bullock (Gravity) - As much as I love Gravity, NOPE
Meryl Streep (August: Osage County) - For the Nth time? Please no.
Judi Dench (Philomena) - Don't know (?!?!?!)
Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) - This was some good acting right here. She looks deranged in this movie like never before. Her range was really tested here.

I really hope American Hustle doesn't sweep, and that Jennifer Lawrence doesn't win for her role (she's great in it but she already has an award and it's a pretty lightweight role and holy fuck Lupita Nyong'o was so good she deserves it more)

How the fuck did American Hustle get nominated for picture of the year!?
Because it's a good movie that's also a feel good one that also has an ensemble of great actors, but isn't too complicated nor challenging nor controversial. It's this year's Argo. It's just how the Academy works.

It'd be the undisputed probable winner if it was also about the magic of cinema and how great Hollywood is.

I'm shocked that Tom Hanks got snubbed for his performance in Captain Phillips.
The best actor category is just so crowded this year, I wish they had more room because Hanks and Robert Redford (and also Joaquin Phoenix and Simon Pegg) deserved nods too, but I don't really want any of the current nominees taken off. And apparently it was Hanks' s best work as an actor too! (I really need to get around to seeing it)

Imo, 2013 was a year of pretty bland and boring cinema and music.
Man, that's crazy, this might be the best year for film since 2007! I mean, this year had Pacific Rim, Gravity, Short Term 12, The World's End, Inside Llewellyn Davis, Dallas Buyers Club, American Hustle, Anchorman 2, All Is Lost, Captain Phillips... and that's only a small sampling of what I can remember off the top of my head!

I watched it. He had better performances in previous films IMO. It was a great movie though.

Lol
It's all the same in the end, matter and motion, simple or complex. No difference, finally. Death, transfiguration. Ashes to ashes and slime to slime, amen.

Oh, sure. Why don't you tell me about how much you loved Sam Jackson in the Matrix films next?

Anyway, I feel kind of mad that Saving Mr. Banks didn't get a single nod. I really liked that movie!
