Shippu looks kinda 'weak' compared to the original.
I'm not sure what to tell you; to my eyes, the original/CvS2 version looks far, far weaker, with the final tatsu section. The SFIII version, in contrast, has a really nice rhythm and the final hits really pop, so I brought that over to make something that looks pretty cool, IMO. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The "Orararara" voice could play a lil' earlier too but that's just my thought.
These 2 lines may just be because I'm a sucker for the original version though.
I'm still experimenting with some timing stuff in the Ultra 1; I'm not convinced the long windup on the ground that Ken does right before the actual Shinryuken should stay the way it is. The timing is all directly from SFIV, but the fact that there's no dyanmic camera angles and the fact that it's all sprites means that the extended windup doesn't convey the same amount of oompf (perhaps if the windup animation had a lot more sprites, but then again, that might make it look weird compared to all of Ken's other animations). Reducing the windup would of course necessitate the "ora ora ora" voice clip to be played earlier.

Will you have another patch for Ryu? If so, who will it be from? varo_hades, mwryly or Phantom?

Yo! Please make this another intro for Evil Ryu and Violent Ken?! Please??
Let's Raise Hell

PRØJECT.13

As cool as that intro is and as much as I'd personally love it also as a tribute to Reu, I don't think either P.o.t.S Ryu or Ken have the necessary sprites to pull it off.

On the topic of the Shippu, I agree with Rowen about it feeling a bit weak and lackluster. It looks and feels very much like it's the same super, which I know is a dumb thing to say cause, well, it is the same super, but it still just has a very same-y feel to it. The opponent being juggled on both side of the Tatsu at the end of MAX Shippu in the current version helps fix that, imo.

About what Rowen says, I think by him saying the oras in Shinryuken should start earlier, he might mean right as the first kick lands rather than the third one as you have it. It's how it is in your current version as well as SFIV. I agree with you about that pause being way too long, though.

I will update my patches for PotS and mwryly's Ryu, but I'm not doing patches for anyone else.

Nah. I already did an intro for Evil Ryu vs. Violent Ken.[/url

This is exactly the aspect of the CvS2 version that I hate! It looks weird as hell and also makes each hit feel less impactful, because they're happening in rapid succession: the opponent gets hit with both the forward-facing kicks, as well as the backwards-facing ones, so the hits get doled out much faster and a result the attack ends much more quickly. The SFIII version, which is what the new one is based on, spreads out the final four tatsu hits so that only the forward-facing kicks connect, which looks much, much better IMO.

And also the opponent ends up getting sent behind Ken for some reason! Yuck!

The ora oras actually do start as the first kick lands. The timing is all based on SFIV!

Nate

i think he meant with the intro thing, an intro with evil ryu vs evil ken (based on Reu's characters)

Jmorphman

But I've never made an Evil Ken. And the quote literally says "Violent Ken". :S

My long nightmare is finally over. The Ken update is finally done. Get the beta here.

Of note: there is no AI, as usual with my betas. Generally I forget to get rid of the AI block (which belongs to whatever character I used as a base for the new one) and so whenever someone uses a beta and lets the AI control the character, shit breaks immediately, and then they complain to me about it even though I specifically warned people not to use the AI. But no more... mostly because of the various simul-only team supers Ken has with Ryu. The final version will include AI and said AI will essentially disable itself in simul if a team super can be performed by the other player (so that its actually possible to pull them off consistently).

I have also updated most of the patches and made a few new ones to ensure continued compatibility for this new version of Ken:
PotS's Ryu. Very important, because there's so much interactivity. And maybe something new too... :)

Violent Ken had an intro with Vega/M. Bison already but I reworked it and added some stuff on the latter's side, so here's a patch for PotS's Vega
Similarly here's one for Froz's M. Bison
Víctorys's Sean had an intro with Ken and this patch ensures it will still work.
This fixes the Ken vs. Terry intro in CrazyKoopa's Terry.
This fixes the Ken vs. Terry intro in vyn's Terry.
Chazzanova's Robert(fixes the Ken vs. Robert intro, also shared with DW's Robert, who will be updating his Robert himself)

I still need to update the patch for mwryly's Ryu; it's far, far more involved than every other patch save for the PotS Ryu, because the extensive amount of intros, winposes, moves, and other interactions Ryu has with Ken. I didn't want to simultaneously update both versions of Ryu at once!

PeXXeR

What a fucking update jeez. You overrdid yourself Jman !
Thank you for the updates, he is soo smooth to move around and play the combat itself feels so much better.
Dont worry though I'll annoy you in the discord if I find anything as usual.

RagingRowen

The only thing I question as of testing is why the EX Air Tatsu only does the launch when P2 is Mid-Air aswell. It made for some good juggles in the original version.

oops

Fixed for the official release.

Jmorphman

Updated the beta with some extremely minor things, like that air EX tatsu thing, the SFIV English patch, and a few other minor things. Just need to do the AI and do a Ryu patch and then everything will be set for release!

also here's some screenshots of the new team super

DauntlessMonk7

Oh, that looks pretty good.
Though how does it work from a gameplay stand point?
Do both Ryu & Ken have to be on opposite sides of the screen in order to use it?

Ryu is part of Ken's sff and appears during the super

Jmorphman

... no. You can see Evil Ryu's name on the lifebars, even. It's clearly simul mode.

The specifics to all of this is in the readme. It's been there since the beta came out. :-\

Quote
- Soryuken uses 3 powerbars, and can only be used in simul mode with Ryu by P.o.t.S. as your teammate; Ken and Ryu must be on opposite sides of the opponent for the attack to initiate. Additionally, Ryu must be in either Normal mode or Master mode; likewise, Ken must be in either Normal mode, Master mode, or SFIII mode.
- Shin Goku Messatsu uses 3 powerbars, and can only be used in simul mode with Ryu by P.o.t.S. as your teammate; Ken and Ryu must be on opposite sides of the opponent for the attack to initiate. Additionally, Ryu must be in Evil mode; likewise, Ken must be in Violent mode.

DauntlessMonk7

Ah, alright then.

I don't remember seeing that in the readme,
though i don't think i got the updated beta yet, ether.

PeXXeR

if you just unpack ken and try to put him in a roster it will only be violent ken with the normal ken  pals.
Ken.def is violent ken.

That's... because it's new. For the update. It wouldn't be in the readme if you didn't get the beta of the new update.

Oops, fixed.

Does anyone actually use the SFIV English voice? It bloats up the filesize so much and it seems like it'd be better as an edit/patch (which it was originally, then I included it inside Ken himself for some reason). I'm not sure I wanna keep it.

Maybe you could zip it into a seperate patch on the side.
