that's the thing about remembrance though, it's not the same for everybody. i don't like the shows you posted, because i didn't watch them as a kid. you don't like today's shows, because you didn't watch them as a kid. my parents don't like the shows i watched, because they weren't the shows they watched as kids.

it's better to remember these shows as standalone things instead of comparing them to today's shows. you're comparing the average of today to the best of yesterday, and today will never win in that scenario

i don't give a shit about adventure time or my little pony but if you think nobody is watching those shows and they have no audience then you live under a rock

Personally My favourite shows from back when I were a kid where Justice League/Unlimited, Duck Dodgers, What's New Scooby Doo, Johnny Bravo and Samurai Jack.

I watched Dexter's lab and Powerpuff Girls sometimes but didn't really care for the other shows airing during that time.

A show that I really, really hated was SpongeBob Squarepants, I fucking hate that show. Out of the shows air today, I'd say The adventures of Gumball is pretty good, though I don't watch Television much anymore.

the takeaway from this thread isn't that you should like today's shows and think they're great, it's that you don't like them because you stopped being the demographic

My main takeaway isn't hanging onto nostalgia, but that there really isn't that many shows these days that really are watchable for multiple groups.

You think that there will be more of those and less of the New Powerpuff Girls or Teen Titans Go!
There were plenty of bad shows in the 90's and 2000's, it would be dumb to say otherwise, but there was still plenty of variety and care at times and it really feels lacking these days.

Though that's mainly the guy atm whose mainly stuck with regular cable meaning I'm missing ALOT of shows or having issues trying to find the time to actually watch SU, Adventure Time and Regular Show inbetween huge amounts of TTG on CN.

Don't get me wrong, pretty sure it's the best thing CN's got right now outside Adult Swim content and Adventure Time occasionally.  Really good show altogether.

Pretty sure what you're trying to say is the condition of Cartoon Network specifically was much better previously that it is now.  Which I can't disagree, while its had its comeback, the network as a whole kinda hit their peak and haven't been the same since that new president.  But there's nothing wrong with enjoying new content.  Or preferring the older stuff, as you sure do.  I miss Toonami too.

Willing to bet reboots like Teen Titans Go and the new Powerpuff Girls don't help current CN's situation much either, though.

If you want a good example of why nostalgia should never be used as a measure of quality, look no further than He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.  To kids who grew up in my generation, the late '80s/early '90s era, that was the coolest thing that had ever, or would ever, exist.  There are still people who swear by it to this day.  But you try to go back  and look at it again and you realize that shit was unwatchably awful.

Just because something was the first thing that you liked doesn't make it objectively better than anything else.

im sorry i tried to likek SU. i really did. i just cant get around it. its too singy songy and its the first cartoon to touch the homo/lesiban topic on CN. No problems with gay people i just cant like a show where even teen titans go has more action.

and im not saying old is better than new. even though u think the new is supposed to better .

heres and example fleischer superman. the storyline may not be great be that was way before he man

look at this animation and tell me it does not look like real people

not best story but better animation that he-man or masters of universe. Fleischer is way before those and the animation is seamless!!

The Fleischer Superman shorts were, well... shorts. Each individual short was no longer than 10 minutes, and they each had a budget of $50,000; adjusted for inflation, that's nearly one million fucking dollars. It was an incredible, unprecedented amount of money, and that's why the shorts look so amazing. It makes absolutely no sense to try comparing any pretty much any aspect of the Superman shorts to animated television shows.

This thread is filled with a ridiculous amount of blind nostalgia.

A short from the golden age of animation looks better than Hannah-Barbera's exploitative shoestring budget garbage Filmation's saturday morning trash? You don't say!

what is nostalgic to you Jmorphman

and also just because it costy doesnt mean the animtion looks better

Artist and creativity= Animation skills

cost $ = no skills

why u think they have  anime saguka individually animate it themselves.

No, good animation takes plenty of time and/or many qualified hands working at once. Both of these equal to plenty of money.

what is nostalgic to you Jmorphman
The blind praise of shows from one's childhood while simultaneously dismissing the shows coming out today.
